“No, I got it,” is a common phrase used by moms on Mother’s Day when family and friends try to help. In fact, many moms have said to me that there is too much emphasis put on this holiday.
Moms appreciate being recognized and getting help on Mother’s Day, but are so used to doing it all themselves that it’s hard for them to accept it. If you don’t make a mom sit down, they will keep going and giving. As a nanny for over three decades, I have often seen new moms at the mercy of asking for help when they are at the end of their rope. This is when sleep deprivation and postpartum have begun to take its toll.
